Campus Bike Racks
Bike racks are available to the Columbia community outside various residence halls and academic buildings. However, outside bike racks may not be used for long term storage.
Columbia University Public Safety personnel conduct bi-weekly inspections to identify bikes which, based on appearance and other factors, are most likely abandoned. The bikes are tagged with a notice and after a grace period of 21 days are removed and stored at the Department of Public Safety. Persons wishing to reclaim their bicycles may do so by providing evidence of ownership and paying a storage fee. At the end of each academic year, unclaimed bicycles will be disposed of.
Bicycles secured with locks to railings not intended for bike storage, stairwells, etc. will be secured by Public Safety with an additional lock requiring the owner to report to Public Safety to have the bike unlocked.
Please review the University Policy on Bike Storage for full details.
