Bike Storage and Racks

Introduction

While most residence halls do not have bike storage, there are limited storage areas in select residence halls that are available for use by any resident of Columbia Housing on a first-come, first-served basis.

Policy

Bicycles left unattended, blocking egress (doorways, hallways, or fire safety exits), or secured to railings not intended for bike storage will be confiscated by Columbia Housing and Public Safety. In addition, Columbia Housing bike storage areas may not be used for long-term storage. At the end of each academic year, all locks will be cut, and bikes removed. Unclaimed bikes will be donated.

Campus Bike Racks

Columbia Housing residents may use the bike racks outside of Undergraduate Housing-owned and operated properties and the racks across campus. To locate bike racks that are available to the wider Columbia community, view this map.

However, these racks are neither owned nor managed by Columbia Housing and are subject to certain restrictions. Bike racks may not be used for long-term storage. At the end of each semester, all locks will be cut, and bikes removed. Unclaimed bikes will be donated. Please review the University Policy on Bike Storage for more information on non-Housing managed bike racks.
