Refrigerators

Introduction

Refrigerators are provided in 47 Claremont, 600 W. 113th St., Brownstones, East Campus, Harmony, Hogan, River, Ruggles, Watt, and Woodbridge. In other buildings, students may bring their own refrigerator, purchase one at the EcoReps' Green Sale, or rent a microwave-refrigerator combo, provided it meets the University requirements outlined below.

Policy

Refrigerators used in individual rooms must not exceed 2.5 cubic feet in volume. Refrigerators and microfridges must be plugged directly into wall outlets and cannot be plugged into power strips/extension cords of any kind. Student-purchased refrigerators (those not provided with a suite or a residence hall kitchen) cannot be kept in common areas and must be kept in the student's room.

Microwaves

Microwaves are not permitted per our prohibited items policy. If you would like to have a combination microwave and refrigerator, you may rent a MicroFridge which meets the University standard. For more information visit MicroFridge or call 800-525-7307. Orders received before August 11 will likely be delivered prior to the start of the academic year.

While Columbia has no affiliation with MicroFridge, we can facilitate the delivery prior to your campus arrival.
