Policy
The Malcolm X Lounge, located on the first floor of Hartley Hall, is a space that is operated by the student group Black Students Organization (BSO).
Procedure
Students that require lounge access must submit a request to the BSO advisor. Residential Life will submit a roster to Columbia Housing. The student can then visit the Hartley Hospitality Desk and a sticker will be placed on their CUID to show the to the Public Safety guard when entering Hartley Hall for access into the Malcolm X Lounge.
If an event is being held in the lounge, a guest roster must be submitted to the BSO advisor 48 hours in advance. Residential Life will share the list with Public Safety to manage access into the lounge for the event. On the day of the event, an Event Host will be stationed at the guard’s desk making sure guests can enter the building. Guests must be accompanied by someone with a valid CUID.
