New Room Selection Website

Room Selection 2020 is around the corner! It's time to start thinking about where and with whom you would like to live with next year. Columbia Housing has launched a new website for Room Selection 2020. Go to roomselection.housing.columbia.edu.

How Room Selection Works

Everything you need to know about how Room Selection works is outlined on our new site roomselection.housing.columbia.edu. Stay tuned for helpful videos with the Residence Hall Leadership Organization (RHLO) to help you learn more. 

What's New

For upperclass students, there are changes to the Room Selection process you've participated in previously. Take advantage of the Information Session and tools on the website to be sure you understand what's different. 

Key Dates

  • 2020 Room Selection Information Sessions will take place in John Jay lounge at 6 pm by class.
    • For Rising Seniors and Barnard students: February 6
    • For Rising Juniors: February 13
    • For Rising Sophomores: February 20
    • The Housing team and RHLO members will be on site to answer questions.
  • Building Tours after Information Sessions.
    • Following each Information Session, the Residential Life team and RHLO will lead building tours to provide a first-hand view of available residences and rooms of current students.
  • Room Selection Registration is a required step for all students.
    • LLC Registration: Friday, February 21 - Monday, February 24 at 9 pm.
      • The process for students approved for LLC starts earlier than general Room Selection.
    • General Registration: Friday, February 28 - Thursday, March 12 at 4 pm.
    • All students must register on the Housing Portal before March 12 and state their intent for housing. This is required in order to maintain guaranteed housing status. This includes Resident Advisers, Special Interest Housing participants, Fraternity and Sorority Life members, students registered with Disability Services, Study Abroad participants, and/or students taking any type of absences.
    • To avoid cancellation fees, students intending to move off campus should also notify Housing of their intent by completing the registration process. 
  • Room Selection is online via the Housing Portal.
    • LLC Online Room Selection:
      • Wednesday, February 26
    • General Room Selection:
    • March 31 to April 30, excluding April 9, 10, 15, and 16
    • Appointment times will be posted in the Housing Portal after Registration closes.
