Columbia Housing

Columbia provides housing for approximately 5,800 undergraduate students in Columbia College and The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science, offering a unique opportunity: the chance to build a close sense of community within the reach of all that New York City has to offer. Furthermore, Columbia Housing is committed to providing students with the highest level of service to ensure students live in a safe, secure and comfortable residence hall they can call home.

There is a Hospitality Desk located in Hartley Hall staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to assist students.

Residential Life

Residential Life fosters safe and inclusive living and learning environments beyond the classroom to holistically develop responsible global citizens. Through their programs, services, and University partnerships, Residential Life strives to instill core values in all of their residential communities. Read the Residential Life mission, vision and values.

The Residential Life staff member with whom residents will have the most contact is their Resident Adviser (RA). RAs primarily serve to enhance community at Columbia. They plan floor community-building events and are available to help residents with any difficulties they may encounter. Residents are encouraged to seek out their RAs as peer mentors about school, internships, academics, or community issues. Additionaly, RAs have the responsibility to uphold community standards.
